Combat on Bleach HD is simple; it focuses mainly on ability/attack cooldowns and action restrictions over an exhaustive resource. This means fundamentally (though not logically) you could use any ability you have as many times as you want. (Unless of course you have a drawback that states otherwise.) Nearly every ability on the site requires some sort of cooldown to keep you from using it too frequently, generally one to three posts, while stronger techniques might have once-a-topic limits. Canon techniques in the library will have cooldowns prematurely set for them while any custom abilities will have cooldowns determined by you that might be increased or decreased by the staff if deemed necessary. Very few techniques will not require a cooldown, such as the basic art of releasing and unreleasing sealed techniques, movement techniques and attacks famed for their speed but not power. (IE, Bala.)
Secondarily, as stated above, there's an action restriction system in place; outside of movement, a single character has five (5) action slots. One is taken up for each attack, dodge and ability used by the character in that post- which again does not include movement, though activating movement-enhancers such as Shunpo take up a slot. Sub-characters, meaning animate creations like summoned creatures and clones, anything that exists and moves outside of the main player character, are all given a max of three (3) action slots of their own to work with. Ongoing abilities take up a slot every post they are active, though this does not count PASSIVE abilities that are continuous. Being in a released state, for example, would not take up a slot, but doing something like going invisible or casting some sort of illusion that stays active for multiple posts would. Abilities are either marked as passive, active or sustainable- active takes up an action the post it's used, sustainable take up an action every post it's active and passives do not take up actions.
None of these need to be heeded in solo mission or training threads- as long as you're not engaging in PvP or important site Plot NPC battles, you don't need to take care in cooldowns or the amount of actions taken up.
* For the purpose of abilities that protect against or overpower certain levels of Rank attacks (such as an Arrancar's Hiero negating damage from Rank 3 and lower attacks) offensive Mask Techniques, Resurreccion, Shikai and Bankai abilities of a Character whose Rank is higher than what is said to be blocked are not effected- taking into account that these ability's power levels are directly proportional to the user. As the offensive powers of a Quincy's Bow and a Human's Fullbring are ranked individually they are counted as whatever Rank they're currently leveled at and can be blocked. *
The offensive power of attacks are determined by the Rank of the Player using them and the general Rank of the attack itself. Abilities are ranked in their respective libraries, with custom racial abilities following the above guideline*. Weaponry are all pre-set with Ranks upon creation and approval. The only natural negation in combat is that Rank 1 attacks will have no effect on Rank 5 & 6 characters. Aside from that, attacks simply fall off in power the higher Ranking opponent they're used against following the laws of the combat system in place: that is,
Common Sense. While you could one-shot an NPC Hollow with a Rank 2 Bow as a Quincy you're not likely to do much more than scar a Rank 4 Shinigami with that single basic attack.
Physical attacks with your body and unreleased Zanpakuto (for both Shinigami and Arrancar) are treated as your current Rank in power. Abilities that vaguely enhance aspects of combat such as: Hakudo Mastery,Zanjutsu Mastery, Kido Mastery, Hollowfication, Resurreccion, Ascension, Blut: Arterie and Quincy: Vollständig do exactly that-
they raise your power to a level your current Rank could not naturally achieve and put you ahead of anybody that isn't in possession of a similar power. It is simple knowledge that anybody under the effects of the latter 4 releases are nearly incomparable in basic physical power.
The same almost goes for speed: outside of the abilities Shunpo, Sonido, Hirenkyaku and Bringer's Light which move almost instantaneously and cannot be combated (except by someone using the same ability type) a character's natural speed is determined mainly by their body type, physical state, and most of all
Common Sense. As base running is not common in the Bleach universe due to the dependence on the aforementioned abilities, this is unlikely to ever become a problem- though if it comes down to it, a higher Rank would naturally move at a miniscule faster speed than lower Ranks. People under the effects of certain custom abilities and effects tied to their Fullbring, Shikai, Mask Technique or Bankai and Hollowfication, Resurreccion, Ascension or Quincy: Vollständig are also increased to a vague tier of speed making them naturally faster than anyone not under those effects. The speed of Shunpo, Sonido, Hirenkyaku and Bringer's Light are still not matched despite whatever release state you're in as they remain instantaneous; outside of the Shunpo Mastery, Bringer's Light Mastery, Hirenkyaku Expertise and Sonido Máximo abilities that give you a higher form of speed within those movement techs.
All items and weaponry you own must be listed in your
[Item List] to be used in any way- anything in your Item List, however, is treated in being on your person and does not need to be included in your combat posts to be applicable. The same goes for your Abilities which all need to be kept in your
[Ability List] to be useable. At the end of every post you should have a spoiler containing the abilities you used (with their descriptions, not just a name) and the actions used up that post.
All characters are allowed an absolute max of 25 abilities in their ability list at any one time NOT counting abilities naturally gained through ranking up/Arrancar and Visored transformations. Any and all purchased abilities do apply, however. Furthermore, numbered techs (the Spirit Radar line and all the movement tech lines as examples) are a special case- they count as one ability, as the higher numbered versions REPLACE and OVERRIDE the lower as they are purchased/learned.
Please use Common Sense as your guide in anything to do with combat and let Ranks do the talking second. Moderation is available should that fail.
Happy hunting!
