General Description: On the tall side of the height spectrum, Sho is usually a fair head above the rest, making it easy to spot him on those occasions where he shows any sort of military baring and stands to his full size. Usually however, he's slouched in a lazy sort of way; hunched down to almost appear smaller than he really is. This isn't a reflection of any attempt to hide or whatnot, he just prefers to be comfortable and not obviously a man in charge; as he is rather lazy and doesn't particularly enjoy his position of power at all. Overall, he's fairly unassuming and doesn't really stand out that much. He's been called handsome by many, which he tends to brush off as nothing more than girls being girls and boys being drunk. He will admit to being a bit vain about his hair, which while messy at all times is still well kept and supremely clean, with the red frosting and darker blood-red highlighting shining when the light hits at the right angles, or under a bright moon.
About You!
Personality: Lazy, distant, a bit aloof, and always avoiding responsibility: that's how many would describe Sho. To those that actually know him, and to the few friends he has, he's almost the exact opposite. He's still lazy as all get out, but he's also one of the most loyal and warm people you'll ever know, and his avoidance of responsibility is less about the responsibility itself and more because he hates paper work and has more 'important' things on his mind usually. Namely, where to find a good drink and how to deal with a rather personal issue he'd rather not discuss if possible. When it comes to his division and his men, he's a favorite of the officers mostly due to his lackadaisical attitude and because he's the one you go to when you want to score a random shift off for no reason beyond 'reasons'.
Likes: Sho's not the type to like or dislike anything particularly strongly; although he does have a bit of fondness for good alcoholic drinks of various types and compositions. A sweet tooth does the man have, and it can be ravenous at times; he'll wake up in the middle of the day (as he's highly nocturnal in nature and sleep during the day whenever possible) and wander to the nearest purveyor of baked goods of the sweet and savory variety and blow a month's pay before returning to his bed covered in powdered sugar and various other fillings. Beyond that, he very much enjoys his sleep, as he rarely is able to get enough given he's forced to be awake during the day for work and can't sleep when the sun goes down due to his natural sleep cycle being inverted from the norm.
Dislikes: Work, work, paperwork, more work, and everything paperwork related. He's not against doing his job, he just hates paperwork. He hates it with a passion unrivaled by anything but his love for sweet pastries of all types. Beyond that, he's not overly fond of certain animals, although that's due to a rather stupid incident as a youth when a traveling circus 'accidentally' released several of their larger species of cats, elephants, and various other beasts; which proceeded to destroy the 'house' he was living in and left him with a few scars he still has to this day. Needless to say, he tends to avoid most animals; although he's got a soft spot for dogs and canines in general, but that's because he's rather fond of his Zanpakto spirit, which is rather canine in nature.
History: Sho was already an adult when he woke up in the grassland wilds outside of the main Rukongai districts. While not super uncommon for humans that died and come to Soul Society to awaken there, very few awaken with any sort of physical reminders of their deaths clinging to their new spirit bodies. Sho woke up still covered in blood and clutching at the disintegrating remnants of a leather jacket in one hand, and the sash that would come to adorn his zanpakto handle in the other. Both items once belonged to his long lost twin brother Doukeshi; whom didn't make the journey to the Soul Society and Rukongai with Sho, for reasons that for many years he was unsure about.
It didn't take him long to realize that he was... different, from most of the other populace of the outer districts: he felt hunger, weakness, and was able to sense things that the rest of the rabble couldn't. A strong back and ingenuity made sure he was able to keep from going hungry most of the time; he was able to fish in the local streams well enough, and a hard day's labor would buy him a few meals and some meager supplies. It wasn't the best life, but it was something, and it lasted him until he was able to find something better. A rare event, a group of Shinigami scouring the districts for anyone that had any sort of spiritual energy that could be harnessed and used; something Sho had in abundance by then. In his rare off hours he would focus on these strange feelings and the odd energy he felt within himself, what the elders recognized as Reiryoku; training it into what, for the area, was a rather potent Reiatsu that he was able to manifest in simple orbs and basic burst that allowed him a form of combat and defense against the strange beasts and thugs that roamed freely that far out into the slums.
Showing these rudimentary skills to the Shinigami earned him a travel pass and an invitation to take the entrance exams for the Shin'ō Academy and a chance to become a member of the new military force being assembled by the Shinigami. It was a chance to get out of the slums, and a shot for him to be able to hunt down a ghost from his past that he had been coming to fixate on over the passing years. A smart enough man, he was able to graduate year early due to his natural talents in Kido and able swordsmanship skills; acquiring his own Zanpakto and entering into the ranks of a division. He didn't spent much time among the unnamed and unappreciated foot soldiers; within 5 years of graduation he had acquired his Shikai and been promoted to fill a vacancy within the seated officers. It was during this initial seating that he found his intense loathing for paperwork came into being; his predecessor had been a bit of a whipping boy and was always left to do the work of his superiors; something they tried to shove onto Sho as well. Needless to say, he had none of that; and the first opportunity to rank up and out of his starting division was taken with gusto; leaping a full 11 ranks total in the process to become to 9th seat officer of his new, much larger overall, division. Here he was quiet happy for many, many years; there was enough power and respect in his position to keep him from being nameless, but there wasn't a crushing expectation of perfection forced on the highest ranked officers. He'd found a happy medium that he rather enjoyed, and would have stayed there for the rest of his tenure if not for a rather annoying night.
He'd been out training in the dark of the night as he was wont to do; when his captain stumbled across him practicing a skill that no 9th seat should ever be able to have. Needless to say, when the Captain-Commander was alerted to this, Sho was basically given an ultimatum; promotion, or 'special assignment'. Given he was ranked enough to know what 'special assignment' meant... he took a promotion; jumping divisions again to fill in the vacancy left by the death of said divisions Vice-Captain. That is where Sho currently sits in relation to his Shinigami life; Vice-Captain of a division that, while he loves the people of and would protect with his life, he would still like to see the day to day activities of which cease entirely because he hates the mountain of paperwork he's forced to deal with every morning of his life.
